Mark III Blue Stripe Simul-Class 1x12 Combo

Electro-Voice Black Shadow – One Owner From New

A superb example of the legendary Mesa/Boogie Mark III Blue Stripe Simul-Class, dating from the late 1980s and presented in excellent condition. Remarkably, this amplifier has had just one owner from new and has clearly been exceptionally well cared for throughout its life.

Handbuilt in Petaluma, California, the Mark III is one of Mesa/Boogie's most celebrated amplifiers, renowned for its incredible versatility, exceptional build quality and unmistakable high-gain tones.

This particular example is the desirable Blue Stripe revision, one of the later developments of the Mark III circuit, known for its aggressive lead channel, tight low-end response and excellent note definition.

Featuring the sought-after Simul-Class power section, five-band graphic equaliser, onboard spring reverb and a USA-made Electro-Voice Black Shadow speaker, this is a particularly appealing specification.

Condition

This amplifier is in excellent condition, particularly considering its age.

The original black covering, grille cloth, control panel and hardware have all been exceptionally well preserved, with only minor signs of use consistent with its age.

Having remained with the same owner since new, this is a particularly well-kept example of a classic Mesa/Boogie amplifier.

The amplifier also comes complete with its original Mesa/Boogie protective cover. Although the cover has seen better days and shows considerable wear, it's a welcome addition and has undoubtedly helped preserve the amplifier's excellent cosmetic condition over the years.

Tone & Performance

The Mark III Blue Stripe is widely regarded as one of the more aggressive revisions of the Mark III series, delivering everything from rich, articulate cleans and dynamic crunch through to thick, saturated lead tones with incredible sustain.

The Simul-Class power section is a defining feature, combining different valve operating classes to produce a distinctive blend of warmth, punch and harmonic complexity.

The five-band graphic EQ provides extensive tonal shaping capabilities, allowing players to dial in everything from traditional American-style cleans to the unmistakable scooped, high-gain sounds associated with classic Mesa/Boogie amplifiers.

The USA-made Electro-Voice Black Shadow EVM speaker is another particularly desirable feature. Rated at 200 watts, it offers exceptional clarity, tight bass response and enormous headroom, allowing the amplifier's full character to shine through even at higher volumes.

From blues and classic rock through to hard rock and metal, the Mark III remains an incredibly capable and versatile amplifier.
